I hate SimChart.

Does anyone else's school use SimChart? I seriously hate it. Not dislike, hate.

We have 3 major case studies this semester, each worth 200 pts. Just a few things I dislike about it:

You can't edit a care plan once you save it? What sense does that make? Seriously though. What on Earth?

It didn't include my Expected Outcomes (i.e. my goal/outcome criteria) in either of my care plans when my instructor went to grade it, despite it showing up in my 'Summary' page before I submitted it. That's a pretty big bug.

You can't edit an assessment once you save it? How is that supposed to replicate real charting? I dunno about EHRs, but I know in paper charting it is allowed to draw a line through what you charted wrong, initial it, and write your correction.

So much repeated information it makes my head spin. If I get asked where my patient falls on the Braden scale one more time, I will puke. I have done that assessment like 3 times already, haven't I?

Why am I shown a diagram of the human body anteriorly and posteriorly where I can choose a location when I am documenting a wound, but when my instructor views my submitted case study, they only see the assessment data I attached to that wound and not the location I had chosen for it?

All in all.. bugs. bugs. bugs. At this point, I am ready to go back to the 25-page Word Document we just had to fill out like last semester. I am fine with fiddling with table sizes, formatting, fixing line breaks etc if it means not having my data randomly disappear and tedious repetition. It looked so promising when we messed with it in orientation but trying to do a 200pt case study on it..? No fun.

I haven't used SimChart in a few weeks but I was always able to edit everything until I submitted it for a grade

We only use it in Sim lab. Haven't had any issues with it. Have you tried right-clicking on the data fields you want to change to edit?

I haven't, but I don't think that would work. Right-click does the same function on any website in a web browser (back, reload, save as.., print, etc). I don't think it could have a native function in SimChart.

Ugh I wish I could remember but isn't there a function to review your care plans and evaluate the results of interventions? I was thinking I added things there

We send our care plans in separately on simchart because of the bugs mentioned above, lol. otherwise it is fine for us, and i hate that you can't edit any assessment too

Right-click also allows for editing, if the option is allowed by the programmer. It's not a standard menu of options.

I'm just going by what works in our EMR in Sim.

I suppose SimChart is JS heavy and that could be an option. I've just only ever seen it in like picture editing websites, which were either Flash or dHTML/JS based.

Next time I have to work with SimChart, I will try this.
