Wow, it was incredible! Stuff like this is why I want to be a nurse! The physician was also very cool and seemed to enjoy teaching.

isn't cool? I'm in a rad tech program and at the hospital I am at, they do all their para's and thora's in the special procedures dept. A NP actually performs them, but the RT's set up the sterile tray and assist with the procedure. It was very cool to see. With the one that I saw, they ended up taking 3 liters of fluid off of her abdomen!

Awesome! Sounds like a good experience.

I was supposed to get to observe a -centesis last semester, but the doc didn't arrive to do it before we left the floor for the day. :o

My all-time favorite clinical experience so far has been in the OR - the surgeons at the hospital where I observed really liked to teach as well! :)

very cool klone!!! I love learning new things. this week we will be with the wound care nurse. I am so excited. Glad to hear you like the OR Manna, I can hardly wait to go. what type of surgery did you see? The hospital we are at does open heart so that is high on my list.

That's the one thing I know I'm really going to be jealous of since I had to defer Nsg 102 until next January - hearing my old clinical group classmates talk about their OR experiences! Too bad they couldn't sneak in a little spycam for me! LOL

I was LOL (just jokingly, because she's a sweetie) when one of my classmates told me that another one passed out when she saw an IV started the other day! It didn't occur to me that something that simple could do it, until I realized that being a diabetic, I'm so used to needles and IVs and blood draws, that even I even helped to my own blood draw last week when the new lab tech was fumbling with the butterfly needle!

I got to see a thoracentesis last week. The doctor was really nice in letting 3 of us students watch. It was amazing how much fluid came out! I love getting to watch stuff like that.
