Hospital scholarships are given in exchange for a contract to work for them for an agreed upon period of time following graduation. They're easy to get. The only criteria I'm aware of is that you have to be accepted to a nursing program. Talk to your financial aid advisor for your program. That's where you'll get the forms and the details.

Ditto to what RNKittyKat said. I did not have to work at the hospital from which I received a scholarship. In fact, I had absolutely no health care experience whatsoever. However, I think, in some cases, it improves your chances if work for the hospital...even if it is in housekeeping or a desk job.

i received a scholarship from a local hospital with a 2 year committment, but they were only giving out 2 scholarships, probably because i attend a very expensive private university. i spoke to the nurse recruiter at orientation and picked up an application. i also had to do an interview. i have to either work as a cna, do an internship, or do an externship before i graduate as part of the package. make sure you know that the facility is someplace you'd want to work after graduation before you accept it and definitely look around and compare scholarship amounts vs. time committment. i found that there were huge differences between hospitals in my area. good luck on your search!!!
