High school senior wanting to become a nurse

I'm a high school senior looking to become a nurse. I'm really stressing out because I don't think I will get into a good college or a good nursing program. My gpa is unweighted 3.3 and My sat scores are 540 (reading), 630 (math), and (530) writing. I'm looking for colleges in the tri-state area (nj, ny, pa). I'd really appreciate if someone can help me because I am extremely stuck! I am unsure of which colleges are good for nursing or if I can even get into a nursing school. I'm very unsure of my path and don't know what to do. Please help!!!

First off you can attend a local community college and take the prereqs required for the nursing program. You'll be taking English, algebra, stats, biology, microbio, anatomy, physio, psychology, etc. check the websites of schools you could attend. After finishing your prereqs you could apply to the associates nursing program and then do the RN to BSN program later on.you could also apply directly to the BSN program after finishing your prereqs but the only big thing in doing this is it is competitive - super great Gpa and test score if a test is required.

You can also talk to a school counselor and see what kind of academic plan they can make for you.

Does your high school use the college board and/or Naviance? They would have access to that information. There are many schools that have a 3.0 and a total 1100 (math/critical reading) as requirements. If you can't get into a 4 year school you can go the Associate route and immediately bridge to the RN....find an associate school that has an association with a college for the RN/BSN bridge.

Don't always look for the "best" school watch out how much you take out in student loans. Look for a school that is NATIONALLY accredited.
