Is the HESI required for graduation, what's your school's NCLEX pass rate?

Hi Everyone -

I'm leaving work in a few minutes to take the HESI exit exam. I don't know much about it, just that we have to take it and it's not required that we pass to graduate.

If you take the HESI, is it required for graduation at your school? What's your school's HESI pass rate? What is your school's NCLEX pass rate? (I want to know if it's truly as predictive as they advertise or just hocum.) Also if you have to pass, what minimum score do you have to achieve and are you allowed to take it multiple times?

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Our school's NCLEX pass rate is 98% but I am not sure if we have to take the HESI....what is the HESI for that matter? I'm in the 3rd of 4 semesters and have never heard of this test.

We are not required to take the HESI, honestly, I dont know what it is!

Our pass rate is 98 to 100 percent.Highest ADN program pass rate in the state.

My school's pass rate is 97% - and yes, we have to take the HESI before graduation, but it doesn't affect whether or not we graduate.

As someone mentioned, I think they use it to predict passing the NCLEX. High numbers make the school look good!

Can't help you with the passing score - but I'll know in October (6 more months until graduation...YIPPEE!!)

Hope it went well today ~ Sarah

Our school Nclex pass rate is 98% and we do have to take the hesi and pass in order to graduate. I think we must get an 850 on hesi, I am not sure. I am a jr. nursing student and we must take the hesi to progress to the sr. yr. we are given two chances to pass it. I take mine on May 11. hope I do good enough to pass it.

unsure of our pass rate, 90 something I believe? Hesi, we have to pass in order to graduate. We have to make an 850. Now, if you fail the 1st time, you do get a second chance. I do know a few people who have failed it the first time. It's important....I have the book and cd, I'm hoping I do ok?

at our school we had to take the hesi to graduate, and you had to score at least 900 to pass it.....our campus has a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX and the main campus of our school has about a 96% pass rate. they also require you to take the NLN at the end of each semester to progress to the next one, they say that is how they weed out those that wont pass the hesi or nclex, we started out last january with 26 people and on April 12, 5 of us graduated...we have all passed the nclex.

100% pass rate on the NCLEX. we don't take the HESI

100% NCLEX pass rate. We do have to take the HESI after each nsg class & pass. We also have to take the HESI & pass in order to graduate & sit for the NCLEX. During the semester our scores must be 850 or higher to pass, for the exit HESI the score to pass is higher but I am not sure what it is. We are told if you pass (within their set scores) then your chances of passing the NCLEX are good. On the exit HESI I think you do get a second chance if you don't pass the first time, but you have to work on the prob. areas before you can take it again.

at our school, we have to get a 90% on the HESI to graduate and we only get one try (at least as of now). our professors are considering letting have a second try, and i really hope they do. a majority of us coming into the program weren't told the whole story about the HESI and i probably would have gone somewhere else if i knew about it, but i guess i'm way to far into this to anything but take it and like it. our school's pass rate is 98% or 100% but obviously that's an inflated number because only the people who get a 90% on the HESI can take the NCLEX. i guess i'm a little bitter about it.

We have to take the HESI but it doesn't make us or break us, used stricltly as indicator of whether or not the students will pass or not. For the last semester our score had to be 900 or higher. Anything under 900 they have to do case studies for remediation and then retest.

My schools NCLEX pass rate is 95%. I sure hope that the HESI is a true indicator of passing NCLEX cause if it is, I won't have anything to worry about. We have taken 4 HESI test so far and I have passed them all so I hope it is true!!!

Thanks everyone for your answers! As you can see by my title line, I survived the exam, but it was pretty challenging. The room we were in was near 85 degrees and I'm 6 months pregnant, so I was REALLY uncomfortable. Despite the conditions, I blew it away.

We don't have to pass to graduate, but at least I'll go into the NCLEX feeling confident about my chances. Seems like those that have it required for graduation have high pass rates on the NCLEX and my score was high enough to meet the HESI standards people mentioned.

Now it's time to prepare for the big test! Good luck to all of you with your exams, NCLEX, etc.!
