Today was my first day at nursing school!!! I got into a bsn program and I was very excited. But now I am so stressed out over the reading. And how on earth I am going to get it stuck in my head. :( Is this a common feeling? lol

Your feelings are normal. Many here on the site can attest to that I'm sure. When it comes to your readings try to skim through them when possible. I would only read Inge in depth if a) your instructor pulls test information from the book or b) you are having difficulty understanding. Other than that, do yourself a favor and skim.

Find your learning style and study accordingly. Auditory learner? Record your lectures and yourself talking out the notes and listen to them. Visual? Colorful index cards or write out your notes. Be creative with your studying. Make it fun (yes, it's possible). Best wishes.

there are also other threads on this topic that you might find of assistance. Many others have provided insight to your situation.

So far, I've found that studying the class notes and reading the text as a supplement will further your understanding and give you the knowledge needed to ace an exam.

There are little gems that stick out in the text book that I'll never forget. Did you know that a person with a colostomy who eats more greens/vegetables will have less odor from their stool because the chlorophyll from the plants helps to eliminate odor?

That was never on a test. It is, however, forever stuck in my head.

Little nuggets of pure knowledge tucked away in my head, all from reading a book. Isn't that awesome?

It will come. Just bring your notes with you around town and keep studying diligently. Also, if remembering details is a focus of yours, do a quick search for "Mnemonic methods." These are simple methods that help us, as humans, remember information. They are used by the people with the best memories in the world who have memory competitions!

Learn and pay attention to new vocabulary. Download reading material to your smart phone. Chances are that you may forget your notebook, but you will not forget your cell phone!
