I have heard that the first semester of nursing school is the hardest. I find that hard to believe. Dont get me wrong..all i do is study....but i would think it would get harder and harder.....I hope it doesnt....It would be nice if everything got easier!

hello and welcome to the board. i would think it gets harder if the "concepts" is not established in the first semester and it will be less hard if one can take previous information and apply it each step of the way. easy is not a word i asocciated with nursing but it is doable and is an attainable goal.

i think the material gets more in depth as you go on. it's all hard though. i just think the adjustment to nursing school is greater the first semester/quarter. that could make it seem harder to some i guess.

My experience was that fall quarter was hard because you are introduced to a new way of thinking. I had such a hard time of understanding the concept of "nursing diagnosis". In retrospect, though, once I got the knack of it, I found it to be easiest quarter during the LPN year. Personally, for me, my second quarter was the hardest because that is when we really got into the disease process and I had to get used to applying the knowledge we learned in class to my patient. However, after that, it was tough, but everything just came together for me.
Just my two cents since I can definitely sympathize with you.

I think all of the above is true but I think the first semester is geared toward "weeding out" those who probably aren't cut out for nursing in the first place. After surviving the 1st semester I found things more tolerable. (I also can't use the worrd "easy" with nursing)

I always thought Med-Surg was the hardest. That and Pharmacology. They were do-able, but hard.
Good Luck!
Thanks everybody!
