Hello All!

I just got accepted into the RN program at a community college. Unfortunately, they don't participate in any federal loan program. The only financial aid assistance available is the pell grant, and a state scholarship. I have received the scholarship, however, I still have books, supplies, and other neccessities that I will incur during the first quarter of nursing school. Which I'm sure most of you know how much that can run! I've looked into private loans, but several have stopped taking applications right now, even well known banks. And several others require my school to certify the loan, which they don't do. So my only option is a "Non-School-Certified" loan. Which I haven't been able to find many out there.

Sorry to rant! Just wondering if any of you had a similar situation? Or if you have any other ideas!

I just got one from Chase. It was pretty easy I just filled out the app. online faxed a signed copy and waited a week for the check.

Not a plug, but I got my private loans through loan2learn.com...it was private, and the rate was a little high, but it got me through....that's all you need.

Hi,

I don't know anything about loans but here is a site I used to get my books really cheap and then I re-sold them on Amazon. I like the used ones and for some classes even bought older editions for really cheap. Good luck!

I had to pick up a part time job because of very similar issues to what you're going through. I am expecting a Pell Grant and state scholarship assistance, but that will cover tuition and nothing more. My credit really sucks so there's no chance of me getting any kind of loan that relies on credit and I'm not comfortable asking my parents to co-sign (I'm 31) so I'm stuck with going in debt in other areas and working my butt off.

But the good news is, I won't have to worry about paying it back when all is said and done.

Yeah I had looked into chase, but my school is not under their "approved" school list. So I guess I'll try some other sites. But thanks!

Your school's financial aid office should have a list of loan providers who have "approved" your school.
