Final grades just in for first semester!

Hey everyone!

Just got my final grades for my first semester in nursing school. Here's the report:

Assessment B (86%)

Foundations B (88%)

Patho B (90.4%) if it was 90.5% they would have rounded up and I would have gotten a B+.

I have 2 other classes that are not nursing related that I havent got my final grades on. I'm hoping for at least a B+ in each class to try to boast up my GPA.

The grading scale is so much different in nursing school than in college. I had a much higher GPA at the community college prior to transferring to the nursing college which is in partnership with a major university. Now that I know what to expect, my goal next semester is to try to get at least one A in nursing school. Is it possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations!!!! I think you did wonderful. Now that you know what to expect. If you polish up on what you are doing now, I think you will get all A's next semester. I hope to follow in your footsteps.

Yes! 85%-90% is considered a B, 91%-92% is a B+, and 93%-94% is an A-, and 95% is an A.

As you can see, the bar is set pretty high! The trick is to atleast try to get a B+ in your classes because you will get a 3.3 and once it's all averaged out, it will get you over 3.0.

Specializes in ICU, Mother/Baby.

I think you did GREAT...just remember a C=RN. Keep up the great work!

sorry I can't stand this saying. Hold yourselves to a higher standard and don't forget, C=RN=limited continuing education opportunities (for example alot a students at my school think C=Rn and they want to be CRNAs. Well in that world C=Rn= NO way will you be a CRNA). Don't screw yourself by aiming for the lowest bar. Just my 2 cents...

At my school, a 92.4 is a B

C=failing at my school

C+=passing the course............but you have to take the Nclex first before becoming RN

I totally agree with you! I do have plans to get my masters. I'm thinking about NP school and I want to be competitive. So I'm not settling in the least. I know I can do it and my goal next semester is to try for atleast one A. If not an A, atleast get a B+ in all my classes.

Man, at my school you need 94% for an A!

Can you believe that 93% is a B?

It's harsh...oh well. Glad I did well on my gen eds.
