Is anyone apart of a Facebook page just for your program and semester? Wondering wether it would be helpful to create one or if its too much drama.

Rather than a FB page, a group can be "Closed" which means members only. This means all activity posted in the group is private.

Even closed, assume that someone will show any post you post. We had three students kicked out over something on Facebook. May have been something to do with a clinical site, an instructor, or school posting so be careful.

My LPN class and my RN classes both had Facebook pages. We all found it really helpful. Whether it was a "grades are up", "hey what page was that on", or just inspirational posts I think it helped us all to support each other through school. I would highly suggest though that it should be a closed, private, group by invitation only. In both of my groups they were private and no one has access to them accept us and no one can join without permission or invitation from other students. It's also a great way to stay in touch after school!

My class has a closed group on fb, it was our instructors suggestion. It helps alert people to things like grades posted or that an important email was sent out. We can plan study groups or just that someone is going to be studying in the library if any wants to join. Also lots of good we can do this posts. We have never had any drama because of it, never had any clinical or patient info posted. We had a lesson on what not to post. We are there to support each other.

We don't have a FB group yet, but our SON is apparently going to create one for us. I'm a little leery about this because of what others have previously mentioned. It's all good if it's used for a simple reminder of grades being posted, or asking when study groups are being held, but I have a feeling people will use it for releasing steam about classes.
