Failed out of nursing program. What do I do?

So I just failed out of the nursing program this semester. The class was Acute care. I feel like such as failure. I was in my second semester junior year and supposed to graduate a year from now. I got a 78% in the class and needed a 79.5% to pass. I feel so stupid. I don't know whether or not to transfer, try reapplying or switch majors. I was thinking of trying to transfer but I'm afraid my GPA as been obliterated ever since I started my nursing courses. I can't bear the thought of staying at my school and reapplying. People keep telling me to keep my head up but it seems so hard right now.

I think it's time to take a deep breath and reassess. Look at your options, look at what went wrong, and what you really WANT at this point. If you DO want to try again, what will you do differently to be successful? Every program will ask you this question, and you'll need a good answer.

Take the time you need to mourn and be upset, then pick yourself up and move forward. Hugs!!

I failed out of Nursing School once too, and I'm literally less than a week away from graduating. I failed out of 3rd semester and reapplied to the program for readmission, and I was graciously allowed to re-enroll in 2nd Semester, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. I was able to pick up things I wasn't able to the first time around. Another thing is that because I'd seen all the material before and had been through all the clinical stuff before, it was another shot at doing better on the clinical side and also ended up functioning kind of as a peer tutor. My classmates would sometimes come to me for help with various procedures and to bounce some ideas off of me as to what the content was. While I wasn't able to get "A" grades throughout, I was able to maintain solid B grades while working full time with a family at home.

Your first step in the process is to do is examine yourself and try to figure out what went wrong, and therefore why you weren't able to pass. If it's grades, that's fine. What was it that you might have done better? Perhaps go to your assessment center and find out if they have suggestions for studying more efficiently. Studying "harder" often isn't the answer, studying smarter and more efficiently is.

A friend (and former classmate) of mine failed out of school but less than 1%. He failed out by literally 2 points. He got his head back into the game, so to speak, graduated, and is now working as an ER nurse.

The point is, unless you've burned all of your re-enrollment chances, you're not completely out. I doubt your instructors will look down on you at all, unless you're not making the most of your re-enrollment chance and on track to fail out again.
