Exam today

Hi everyone!

Today we had another exam in Fundamentals, I got a "B", missed 3.. but that was changed to an "A" ??

as it turned out those answers were actually RIGHT.. so I got credit and thus 100%.. my concern is I feel that the instructor will say one thing in class and the book will say another, maybe she just blurts out the opposite of what she means sometimes I don't know.

OH, and the girl that sits next to me, just an update.. she hasn't been falling asleep but she failed the Exam today. I wonder if she will have to take the class over, or will she be out? not sure.

marie, way to go! keep up the great work as i know you will!

as for the student, you have been concerned about her and it is up to her to want to do.

In our school, Marie, you would be out and you wouldn't even have to fail...our instructors give you two warnings and if the person is STILL sleeping they are automatically kicked out of the program. Oh I can sooooooo relate with being told A LOT of different things...my advice? Go by the book! Good luck and Congratulations on your grade! Awesome!

Yah, she was warned twice about sleeping but she is still beside me..lol.. she missed one whole class so she could get her re-certification for CPR. If she isn't kicked out I have an idea why that won't happen.

I am definately going by the BOOK from now on, thanks for the advice !:)

Our program averages all of your exams. So, if you fail one and ace another, they even out and you pass. Let's pray that doesn't happen to me! I couldn't stand the pressure of knowing that I failed an exam!

My first is tomorrow, and instead of studying, look what I am doing? :p I studied most of the day, and just burned out. Oh well, I think I know enough to at least pass!

I think too much studying is not good..lol.. at least it never helped me. It's nice to get away from it for awhile !

Good Luck tomorrow Val !! I bet you'll do great !

I DID GREAT! I got 86 out of 100 NCLEX like questions correct. When the instructor handed it to me she said I did "very well" (and I asked her, you noticed mine? she nodded...).

I think I may have one of the top scores, if not the top. I only heard of two other scores even in the 80's, an 82 and an 83. I heard that there are some scores in the 40's! She did announce to the class that anyone scoring in the upper 60's to 70's did fine... and she also announced that there would be teacher conferances of about 5 minutes scheduled with each student to go over our progress.... mind you this is our 3rd week.

AND .. I did NOT go around saying "I got an 86", I told only those in my study group (we sit near each other), and those who asked. Some people looked over my shoulder at the score. I did not gloat, nor did I hide what I got. I didn't run around asking everyone's scores, I asked my study group what they had heard and they told me the scores they heard. Since this was the first test, many people were "comparing" and I learned pretty quickly how high mine was and that keeping quiet might be a good idea.

Because I had some questions about my answers, I did go up to the instructor and waited in line to go over them. One person said "what are YOU worried about?" after she looked at my score over my shoulder. I feel I have just as much right to have things clarified as anyone else waiting in line don't I?

The best part? The students who kind of treated me bad because I was "new" were in their little group as I walked by. They asked me my score, I told them and they literally dropped their jaws! :( Another student said she wanted to come to my house to study, and best of all, now I HAVE THE INSTRUCTOR'S RESPECT. Before when I asked a question, I got the "here is the stupid question from her" look, now when I asked a question on the exam she actually looked at my viewpoint and respectfully answered me!

To say I am thrilled is an understatement! Most importantly, I proved TO MYSELF that I can do this!

ANYWHOOO... I came here to announce it because I feel like you all won't hate me for doing well and I can SCREAM AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS that I scored in the top of my class on the first exam!!!!

In our program the tests are handed out with a number on them. After a test, the scores are posted on the bulletin board by those numbers, so we know everyone's score...but not who had that score. The numbers are changed each time to keep the scores confidential. I like knowing how I compared to others.

VAL !!!!! YOU DID IT !! WAY TO GO !!

we knew it all along !! that is SUPER !!! I bet you just made a lot of new friends !!

Keep up the good work, all that studying paid off !!!

That is a good idea to post the scores that way ! :nurse:

I have been in that system too... it was nice but you had to wait for them to post it. They had to cue up into the campus system.

We took the test this morning, and had the results within 2 hours, while still in class. (our lecture runs 5 hours). Our program has its own scoring machine and doesn't have to go through the campus scanning machine. The actual tests are held for 2 weeks and then shredded. New tests are used each term. Some students did leave rather than wait the extra 20 minutes after lecture. I like having the choice of getting my exam (which I can write on) with my score sheet. It helps me analyze what I answered wrong, and why. Later, I can compare my results to the entire class when they post it. But for now, we got them back using just our names.
