Exam 1st day?!

Indeed. My first semester of nursing school we are having some sort of test the first day after orientation. And obviously, we all can probably assume, it's not graded or anything.

But im just curious what the heck they could possibly be evaluating? Has anyone had some sort of test like this that can shed some light?

My program requires a basic math test during orientation for freshmen, and a more advanced math test for sophmores. If you can't pass, you are dismissed from the program. That being said, it is basically multiplying decimals & fractions, and converting fractions - percents -decimals and back again. My school sent a "Dosage Calculation" packet with my supplies list for practice.

Wow that's intense! I would be so nervous! However they specifically said "not to worry" about this test. So it's nothing they expect us to prepare for, as I understand anyway.

I give a take home test the first day. It's a pre-test so I can tell what my students already know, so I know what I don't need to cover and what I do need to cover. I give points for doing it and no penalty or extras for score.

I wouldn't sweat it. It's either some kind of pre-test like Whispera described, or a math test designed as as a "wake up call" for those who need to see what they should review prior to an actual math test. They aren't testing you on content....yet ;) That's Day Two! :D

As others have said, since they said not to worry about it more than likely it is an evaluation if where everyone is. My program is actually having us do our math test on our orientation day which counts. However we have known about it since June with adequate time to prepare.
