I will be graduating with my associates degree in nursing, furthing my education is an important next step for me, but I am on the fence of doing it right away. The faculty at which I got hired at does not require a bachelors degree after getting experience would I be able to get a job at an elsewhere hospital with out a bachelors degree, but would have experience? My family and support team have a hard time understanding why I would spend more money on my education if I already had a job. Please help me understand how a bachelors degree would make me a better nurse, and more qualified for different jobs?

You need to understand that the difference is between NOW as versus LATER. You are lucky that you have a position NOW that does not require the BSN. That doesn't mean that LATER you'll be as lucky. NO JOB is secure anymore be it because of choices, yours or others', voluntary or involuntary.

BSN takes more time to complete. It does include different courses that I believe do help to build upon/expand previous learning.

And finally, it's the trend of employers. They call the shots so there's no use in fighting the tide. And if you want to move latererally or upwardly, that's the usual 'price of admission'.

It doesn't necessarily make you a better nurse, it depends on what facilities require. I wouldn't worry about it now if your facility doesn't require it, but know they may in the future. I know I am taking a little break before I decide whether or not to go for my BSN. I'm over school right now!!!
