Doing My Happy Dance Today!!!

Nursing Students General Students

Today I received an email from my nursing program that I have been selected to move up a semester. Originally I had accepted to start the nursing program in the fall of next year but now I'll start in the spring. I am so overly excited and I can't wait to get started on everything that ill need to start. It's really starting to seem so real to me now and while some people that I've told share in my joy I know no one will share in my joy like my future colleagues. I just felt the need to tell the world and AN was the closest thing to it lol. :-)

That's fantastic!!!! Best of luck to you!!!

OMG im so glad i found you lol. so tell me about orientation and how long it took you to get all your stuff done and what you had to get done. where do you get your uniforms from. im truly curious to know because i want to be prepared for all of this when the time comes. im working now but im debating on how to cut my hours and everything. i didnt think they were gonna accept me using merit placement so it was all just so shocking and overwhelming. I'd totally love to meet you

@mskrosRN2B Hi, well we had to complete two orientations, one online, and one in person, and both are mandatory. You will get an email soon that will specify the dates and times for both. Things that we had to complete were the required immunizations in the acceptance letter. I used immunizations from my childhood, so it eliminated several for me to complete this year. You can use childhood immunizations, but make sure you have the official documentations. Btw, if you are confused with anything, ask as many questions, even if it's very simple.Lol! You also want to complete a CPR course, which is good for two years. You will ordered uniform tops through CastleUniforms, and have the options of purchasing the pants, lab coats, and etc. locally. When you do the online orientation they'll provide information on purchasing major medical insurance, and completing a background check, along with drug screen. Important note, make sure you read all the information and pay attention to dates and deadlines because these are what get students kicked out the program. About two month later we completed the in-person student orientation, which was very fun. Our class is starting with 170 students in all of the nursing programs combined. The in person orientation lasted a long time, about six hours, and they made us interact with each other and faculty in order to get familiar with just about everyone. If you have any time in the Fall, take AHS126 and Nur105 because if you don't, you'll be taking both with your first nursing course, and it will be difficult due to the amount of material in each nursing course. For AHS126, there's a study guide on the Trident's nursing web page, and the format of the study guide is exactly like the exam, except the exam only contains 20 questions, and you need

a 95, so make sure to print it and read so you can test out the day before the course starts. If you don't test out of AHS126 you have to take the course and you only have three times to pass the exam, plus you won't be able to progress to your second nursing course, which is Nur104, but it's fairly easy once you understand the material. I just received my schedule for Fall and it's a lot, but we can do it.Lol! So the important things I would focus on right now if I were you is completing those immunizations, and using the study guide to practice the math for AHS126, and once you get an email for your online orientation, everything else will be explained in specific details. If you have anymore questions I'll be glad to help you out.

@babygyrl9706 thanks so much for the info. I'd totally love to meet you and I truly appreciate all the help that you've offered. I signed up for basic pharm this semester because i wasn't sure if I was gonna get in thru merit placement but I have already been looking at the study guide for 126. I think I'm gonna take basic pharm still and just prepare to test out 126 in the spring. I have a friend who's also in the nursing program, her second semester I think lol, and I truly believe I have driven her all types of crazy with everything that I've asked her so its very nice to now have another source. You are awesome :-)

@mskrisRN2B you are welcome!
