At PBCC, all first semester students are assigned mentors. Mine called me last night. She sounds like a real gem. She's going into second semester so it's still very fresh in her mind what it's like to orient to this whole new weird world. I got the scoop on thing like the books I REALLY need and what to expect in my clinicals. It's nice to know I have a resource that's just a phone call away.
Does anyone else's school have mentoring programs? If so, what were your experiences with your mentor?

Yes,
I have a mentor and I'm a mentor myself. I'm going into my third semster in January. We also get extra credit for mentoring.

We have a mentoring program also, through the NSA (student nursing association -club) for anyone who wants it. My mentor will graduate after the Spring semester. I have asked her a few questions via email & she's been very nice.
