Dilemma!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone!:) Need advice on working and going to school. I start school Jan 3, full-time, and need to work part-time, about 15-20 hrs a week. I am thinking of working 3rd shift at a hospital but I wonder if I can handle it. The position is unit secretary in the ER so I would love to get my foot in the door and get some work experience there. I have to work because I have 2 kids and my fiance doesn't make enough $$$.

I am also looking for some good cover letter examples with job objectives since I have no medical experience. Have tons of customer service experience though.

I am also wondering how to put an avatar on my name or profile.

Thanks for everyone's input!

What are the hours for your classes and are you in the nursing program or working on prereqs.. If it is working mainly on the weekends then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but that will be tough I think..

Good Luck

I will be in pre-reqs (Bio, Chem, Algebra, CNA class) and I could only work Thurs, Fri, Sat nites 3rd shift. My classes are 8-2 and 5:30-9:45 mon & wed nites. What bad schedule. Maybe I will stick to eves instead of 3rd shift. Thanks for you reply!:p

I would honestly try to find an evening shift or pull and evening/night double or something like that... But you might be able to pull of the nights.. Good Luck with whatever you decide..

i AM CURRENTLY A UNIT SECRETARY IN THE ER AND I AM A FULL TIME NURSING STUDENT.THIS JOB IS HIGHHHHHH STRESS. mY SCHOOL IS FROM MON-THUR SO i AM ABLE TO WORK THUR, FRI. HOWEVER I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WORKS THE 7A TO 7P SHIFT ON TELE EVERY WED, THUR. HE COMES TO CLASS ON THUR DIRECTLY AFTER WORK. ALTHOUGH HE IS TIRED, HE SEEMS TO MAKEIT THROUGHT THE THREE HOURS OF CLASS WE HAVE. SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. YOU MUST BE DETERMINED IN ORDER TO MAKE IT WORK. GOOD LUCK IN WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE!
