How would you handle a difficult patient, doctor, or family member? what would the results be from your actions?

I would say that it all depends on the situation at hand.

I would probably listen, and try to determine what the concerns are
Tell me about one of your difficult patients and how you dealt with them

Hmm...no matter how you handle it, you can never tell what the result is going to be. People are unpredictable.

Is this for an interview question?
I would say something along the lines of: I would try to empathize with the person to really understand where they are coming from, then try to find a common ground to build trust that I will do everything in my power to help them, and then try to implement a way that "may" help them while focusing on my tasks. We can't always help family members and patients the way that they want but if its within our power we should try. Otherwise, explain your reasons why you can't help them and empathize with them while trying to offer support.
There how did I do??:chuckle
But if you give me specifics I could probably narrow that answer down.

From my interview experience, they usually ask:
"describe a situation in which you had a difficult patient (or stressful situation, or conflict, etc) and what you did to handle it"
I always try to think back to situations I have had with patients, something unusual that came up, and keep that example in the back of my head.
