Does anyone else get sad when someone in your program fails? I'm only a month into my program and today I was overwhelmed with sadness after finding out that one person that I have really gotten along with has to leave the program. Another person is considering withdrawing.I know I've got to work my butt off to make sure that I finish successfully. I guess I'm just feeling down today after seeing that its for real. You can work so hard to get here and then it can be gone so quickly. I know I should not be feeling this way right now. I've scored well on my exams, passed my first checkoff on the first attempt, so things are going great so far, but I still have this uneasy feeling that this could have been me getting dismissed today. Sigh. I know I need to get these thoughts out of my head, my second checkoff is next week so I need to focus. Just wondering if anyone else gets upset when a classmate fails out.

It's not a bad thought to have....keeps you honest! But I wouldn't stay there long.

I do feel terrible for them when it happens. It's also a reminder for me that anything can happen, that's out of our control, at any time--humbling.

Honestly, I wish if some of ours were going to fail it'd have been the obnoxious ones. They're still there though. It's the innocent kids that got the axe.

That's a good thing, it shows that they are being dismissed on merit....and not based on personalities you (self-admittedly) don't deal with well.

I don't deal well with them. I expect more out of people than most are willing to give. School is for learning - not playing around.

Exactly, you don't deal well with folks who have a different outlook than you. I'd venture a guess that they couldn't care less what your expectations are of them.

Good thing your opinion isn't a criteria for them staying in the program.
