Christmas Gift Ideas for Newly Accepted Student

Nursing Students General Students

Published

Hi there! I was just accepted into an ADN program through a local hospital and the program starts this January. My family would like to get me some Christmas gifts this year that might help me out in school, but I am not sure what to suggest. I am hesitant to get a really expensive stethoscope because I'm just a student (graduation gift maybe??). I was wondering what everyone found invaluable during school. It is an 18 month program for working adults (I'm 32), so any ideas would be great.

Congrats on your acceptance which School is that if you don't mind. For the gift maybe they could get you some comfy shoes for school and clinicals. If your school requires a particular color than they could get it for you.

Think outside the box: quality of life and stress reduction.

"Gift Certificates" for

Cleaning your house or apartment

Doing your laundry

A nice lunch out

A massage

A spa day

Fruit-of-the-Month (yeah, really-- it's nice to get grapefruit in the middle of the winter)

or Flowers-of-the-Month -- really nice to come home to find flowers on the front step

An app for mindfulness and calming for your phone

My husband's birthday gift to me was a new laptop, because I started nursing school the week after my birthday. I think a stethoscope is a good idea too (mine cost about $70). Or maybe a gift card to the school bookstore.

I've been looking at Plum Paper planners. They run about $40-50 after shipping. Functional and fun gift.
