Cheerleading my freshman year

I am a high school senior. I plan on majoring in nursing at the university I was accepted in. Their nursing program starts your sophomore year. I was very active in high school, doing cheerleading, band, College Club, and several other clubs and activities. In college I want to focus on nursing, but I also want to be a cheerleader my first year. They practice for four hours three days a week and not everyone gets to travel. I want to know is it a good idea to do cheerleading my freshman year, or should I put down the pom poms and pick up the books my freshman year?

I would do it if you have the opportunity to. Honestly, your first year will consist of basic core classes you need and maybe a science course. I think it would be completely doable if you did cheer. Only you know what you can handle though. Keep that in mind. Will you be working also? That's a big question. College courses are more difficult than high school classes so you'll need to put more hours in to your classes than you did in high school. Good luck to you.

I would but look at how to balance your classes. Take one hard one and easier classes. Don't try to take all the sciences at once. Try to balance. Also, see if you are pre-nursing or actually nursing. A lot of schools do pre-nursing for the first one or two years before accepting students into the nursing program. It isn't very well explained.
