Change.org petition for FNP Students

FNP Students, aren't we tired of not getting preceptors for our FNP clinicals and allow schools to pretend is our responsibility even though we are paying exorbitant prices for our education?

Is time to start advocating for ourselves, I want to reach FNP students that will want to help me set up a Change.org petition to AACN (American Association of Colleges of Nursing), to change the current system and help students locate preceptors.

Does anybody have any ideas of where to start?

My background, I attended a brick and mortar FNP school, and upon time for clinicals, the students who could not get any placements were forced to wait entire semesters, delaying their graduation, some of the students even lost preceptors in the middle of the semester. Another set back, when you finally find preceptors and the school does not accept them, because they are either not primary care, or not enough experience, so is a lose-lose situation.

If any body is interested, we can get our own topic, and find out how to start our petition, get the signatures required and contact AACN? Any other ideas?

There are schools that provide preceptors for students. If students would just quit enrolling in programs that require them to find their own preceptors, "vote with their feet," and only enroll in schools that provide preceptors, those other schools would have to either shut down or make changes. Why should anyone expect the AACN to require any changes when students are still flocking to these schools in droves? When this topic comes up on this site, typically quite a number of people post to say they want to find their own preceptors, because they want to be able to do all of their education in their home community and not have to relocate or do any significant commuting. While I highly disapprove and can't imagine why anyone enrolls in and pays tuition to these schools, obviously they are providing a "product" that people want.
