I'm making rock candy, and am supposed to explain what crystallization has to do with chemistry and microbiology. I cannot find an explanation anywhere! Anyone know or know where I can find out why? Thank you.

That's pretty wide open. Can you narrow the question a little? Crystalization give evidence to a variety of intermolecular and interatomic forces that are very important to biochemical processes. Sugar crystals are demonstrating Hydrogen bonding and London dispersion forces that are very important to many biochem processes - protein configuration is a big one. Of course polar bonding that drives the formation of polar solids (salts mainly) is a demonstration of functions as fundamental as the ability of water work as a solvent. Take your pick.
