Can I do this in a year or not?

I know at my CC, they only offer certain nursing classes during certain semesters. For example, if Foundations of Nursing is offered in Fall 2004, it is not offered again until Fall 2005. So you would not be able to double them up.

Check with your school, it may be different.

I hope someone can help you, maybe I'm having one of those days but I can't figure it out. I thought a Bsn took more than a year.

I can't make out anything from the schedule you posted but most likely you will be required to complete the early nursing classes as prereqs for the later nursing classes.

Check with your school advisor to be sure.

I don't know about your non-nursing pre-req's but each nursing class is a pre-req for the NEXT nursing class. For example, at my school to take my class now, nrs211 (the 3rd semester class), I have to have taken nrs111 (the 1st semester class) and nrs115 (the second semester class). Get your non-nursing pre-reqs out of the way, but you'll still have to be there for 2 yrs with the nursing classes. Good luck! Oh yeah, if you finish all of your non-nrs stuff and just have nursing classes you can TRY to take some BSN requirements such as statistics, but don't overwhelm yourself...one step at a time.

Your nursing program will still take 2 years. You have 2 nursing courses first semester, Funds & Mental Health I think it was. Then spring you have maternal and whatever the other one was.

The co-reqs (which everyone pretty much does at pre-reqs) are scheduled in the catalog along with the nursing courses. There is no way to take the nursing courses faster.

As for BSN in 1 year, the only BSN's I've heard of that take 1 year are for those that hold a Bachelor's in another field and have fulfilled all of the non-nursing pre-reqs, co-reqs. I've heard they're very intense. HTH.

I'm in a similar situation--I've finished everything but speech (taking it this summer) and when fall comes, I start on my 2-year program. One way to find out via the internet, is look on that website for "course descriptions" and it will generally tell you which classes build on each other. Also, crossing the finish line will depend on if your program offers classes in summer. Mine seems to alternate--last summer they offered classes for a first-semester student nurse (but not all of them--just 2 different ones) while this summer they are offering mental health nursing (3 hours total, 2 different classes). So I can't count on them offering the classes I will need next summer. Maybe I will get lucky. Don't be too upset if the program is set up for a two year finish--just remember it's technically under 2 years if you are starting in August and finishing in May (saves you 3 months, right?)

Try to look on the bright side. At least by finishing your pre-requisites and co-requisites, you'll be taking such a light course load that you might could work part-time, or if you aren't working, you'll have time for more socializing with friends and family (always a good thing). :)

If you have an ADN already, you can go from ADN to BSN in about 3 semesters which equal a year. That is at a University I am interested in here in NC. Sorry for confusing you.:)

Thanks for all the replies. You guys are probably right, it will still probably take me two years to finish the degree. I've been trying to get someone in the nursing dept, but no one ever answers the phone. I am still SO confused! 2 of the 6 nursing courses will be done in the Fall. Then in the spring I would only have 1 course (adult nursing I). It seems like they would let a person pair that with Maternal-child nursing, which is the next class, and then I would still take the last two classes together as scheduled?? Does this make sense to anyone else?? Please let me know.

I'm guessing no.

Look in your school's catalog (or website if they have a decent one) under course descriptions. There you will usually be able to tell what pre-reqs a course has (so what sequence they must be taken in), or even what semester the course is offered.
