Anyone else struggling with a cruddy GPA??

Nursing Students General Students

I am finishing up my prereq's right now, one more semester to go, and I have applied for nursing next fall. I am in classes right now with students who have this awesome GPA, and act so confident about what they want. Me - I attended college right out of high school about 10 years ago, completely messed up my GPA, I have a 2.483 and I need a 2.5 to get in to nursing. Did anyone else have this problem and not get in? My advisor acts like it's no big deal, but sometimes I think she might just be trying to make me feel better! Some days I think I don't have the brains or confindence to handle this...:o

I graduated from high school with a 2.5, and thought that was pretty bad, but it put me in the top 10% of the graduating class! 2.5 is what's required to enter the nursing program at my college. I started last year in college to get the prereqs out of the way and entered the nursing program this fall with a 3.87...so hang in there, it can be done!!

question about the fresh start - i am taking my last semester of prereq's before being able to start the nursing program. and i took biology and all other general's about 10 or 11 years ago. would i have to retake those? because i think i would go crazy if i had to add another year or so to my schooling!!! great idea though, i am definitely going to look into it...thanks everyone!

according to the way i was told the answer to your question is yes!! you can't pick and choose which classes you want deleted. it's an all-or-none situation. if you have the majority of your classes done and don't want to spend the time or money to retake them, then this situation may not be right for you. good luck in whatever you decide to do!!

have a great weekend!!

Well, I just started back to college and my GPA is 1.81...not too encouraging is it. Well, I think and believe I can makes A's and B's to inch up to a 2.88 or so by the time I get the ADN. Unfortunately, that ain't good enough I need a 3.0 to be accepted into a RN-BSN program. Sad, sad, sad....
