Amazing Classmates

Nursing Students General Students

Yesterday, I had a pathophysiology exam, the first exam of the semester. I was feeling good, I had studied, I was prepared, and my bag was packed to head to school. I decided to go early and print some stuff of that I would need next week. Thank god I did. I put my car in reverse to pull out of my parking spot-no problem. As I shifted the car into drive, something seemed off, but eh, no big deal. I took my foot off the brake and the care moved...backward. I frantically shifted up and down and suddenly realized the shifter wasn't catching, it was just sliding. Put it in drive again, still moving forward. "Ok," I thought "I'll just get out of the car and get some help". Put the car in park...backward motion again. I finally managed to get my car back into a parking spot and put on the emergency brake. I then proceeded to frantically call classmates who live near me.

This is where the story gets good. Classmate #1 was already at school, but offered to come get me if nobody else was available. Classmate #2 also already there, but realized another classmate lived nearby, and called her for me, as I didn't have her phone number. Within 15 minutes, classmate #3 was at my apartment to pick me up. All 3 classmates offered me a ride home after the exam as well. They helped calm me down before the exam.

I am so proud to say that I have such great people in my class. Not only are the caring and helpful, but they are able to work as a team to come up with solutions. I am convinced my class is full of people who are going to make great nurses, and would love to hear stories about other great classmates and what they have done to help.

That is a hard way to start the semester but great to know that your classmates are there for you:) I am happy you left early!!

That is fantastic that they all pitched in to help. Bake them some brownies to say thank you or something. Hope your test went ok.

So Awesome of them to help You out! That is one of the things I hope transfers to the real world of nursing, I think is great when everyone works as a team.

I'm also lucky to have amazing classmates. Last semester I had to spend a few days in the hospital, it was right before midterms. My classmates visited frequently, took notes and helped me study. One even offered to stay with me after I returned home to help with my dogs, another picked me up and took me to and from class for a couple weeks until I could drive again. They were all quick to carry things or do things like plug in my laptop charger. I honestly couldn't ask for a better group of people and I know passing nursing school without them would be close to impossible!

Yes, I really think those kinds of behaviors will transfer, there are some great nurses getting ready to head into the workforce!

Thanks for sharing your story :w00t:

Great classmates, indeed!

I read a lot of things about cattiness in nursing school, but that was never my experience. We were always there for each other. I'm still friends with a lot of them! The professors not so much ;)
