Regardless if you're LPN or ADN at my school the first year is the same. It only changes up after the first year where LPN's exit and ADN's continue on but before they can continue on in the ADN program they must pass the LPN exit exam along with the LPN students and if they don't they are held back 5 weeks for remediation and not with their class anymore. Then you have to take it again & if you fail again they hold you back another 5 weeks. This is a LPN exit exam, but we are ADN students and do not wish to sit for the LPN boards.. Of course we understand that once we complete the ADN program we will have an exit exam, but they are also asking us to take the LPN exit exam whether we're sitting for the boards or not. Anyone else have a similar situation at their school?

The pass/fail rate is okay for the Nclex but not for this Hesi test, figure that one out???? I've already completed a year.

EXACTLY!!! You guys are paying good money for this program, and shouldn't put up with this! Especially being held back, because of some rule added after you have already started! I think it's time you guys did some talking to those in charge!

I wondering just how well the graduates function on so little preparation in theory, if you're saying you only get 3hrs of instruction??? How is that possible??? How are you being tested?? On the whole system/disease processes, and procedures??? I don't get this at all!

OH ITS POSSIBLE.. We're doing it and stressful beyond your wildest imagination! My mom said to me one day, "I'm much older, but even I have sense enough to know that you can't retain anything that fast."

Like I said in an earlier e-mail, we take off running each 5 weeks. We already start out in 4th gear, lol. I don't see how some people are working and with small kids. Can you say Zoloft and Ambien.

We're being tested on the disease, characteristic, etiology, s/sx, treatments, teaching points, risks/complications, any lab values associated

Well flemmac ...if I ever meet you in person I want to shake your hand when you finish, and say WELL DONE!!! I totally believe though, that you and your fellow students need to protest this new rule. If no one says anything, how do you know whether or not they would've back down unless you try it. But I would be pretty upset in your shoes right now. I would NOT let them hold me back for 5 weeks. NOW that is where I would REALLY put my foot down!!!

I wish you the best of the best possible outcomes with this, but I think you can get pass this.

Thank you for talking with me. I'll keep you posted.

How does that saying go, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything."

Steve Bartkowski.. Football player

I like this one too.. "A man may fall many times but he won't be a failure until he says someone pushed him."

You're welcome(((( flemmac)))) ANYTIME! Please let us know how things go! And those quotes are right on:D!

I'm in the ADN program. In our program, the LPN and RN students go together for the first year. The LPN students then continue about 8 weeks in the summer. RN's are not required to take any test to get into the second year.
