accepted to bsn @ suny-b, but what about my job?!

So I graduated from college a year ago - and recently re applied to SUNY-Binghamton to transfer as a junior into their nursing program and was ACCEPTED!! YAY!!. But this past December, when I thought I was not going to get in, I took a new job, and told them I had no plans on returning to school...as it is now, I am glad I got into school becuase I HATE the job, but I was rejected from my other 3 schools so I assumed I should just get a good job, and when the opportunity presented itself, I didnt want to lose it so I told them I would be able to stay at least a year (just a verbal committment, nothing in writing). HOW do I give my 4 week notice now (yes 4 weeks becuase it is a clinical-support position)? I dont want to be dreading life for 4 weeks after I inform them bc they think im a liar and a cheat. Any advice!?

I graduated last May. Do you already have a bachelors? Are you applying for the accelerated or as a junior transfer. Although I already had a bachelors, I applied to start traditionally at the junior year. I had a BA in Psychology with a 3.4, and had a difficult time getting in. They have cut the program nearly in half with spots available. According to the admissions staff, the accelerated is easier to get into (as there are more spots available) but is definitely more intensive. I preferred the traditional program, as I was able to do an externship over the summer, and feel like the slower pace allows you to grasp and master the material better than the accelerated but, to each their own..depends on what kind of student you are. I graduated with a 3.95, but studied 12 hours a day on weekends and 6 hours a day on weekdays + clinical, class and prep.

Well I'm trying to get into the traditional program, I can't do accelerated program because you need a bachlors degree in something else. I'm trying to transfer in for next fall, how is it? how are the proffessors? and all I have is a 3.6 i know it's competitive, I'm also coming from a community college, what do you think my chances are?

Just give your notice, you do not need to state the reason why you are leaving. They may make it easy on you and just let you go, if not, finish your four weeks and get on with it. Enjoy nursing school :)

I agree, give your notice, and move on. They always reserve the right to fire you at will, and you are also an "at will" employee, work out your 4 weeks, don't want to burn any bridges, and enjoy school!. I work in Endicott - so when you graduate, or if you need a job in the interum, PM me.

Plans change. You had no intentions of going to school when you accepted the job and then got an acceptance at SUNY-B. Just write out a brief letter stating that you are giving your 4 week notice and that your last day will be X date, and thank them for the wonderful opportunity (even if you don't mean that lol). Nothing else, no apology or excuses or defensiveness. Meet with your manager and hand him/her the letter.
