accelerated bsn program with few pre-reqs required, and no previous bsn

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to know if anyone happens to know of an accelerated bsn program that does not require a previous bsn degree, and does not have a wait list?? I know I am asking for alot, however I know there has to be one out there :). I am willing to move anywhere. I have been calling state to state and am still not having much luck :(. I have completed Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, and Lifespan Development. I also scored an 80% on my TEAS exam. The schools I have come across either require a previous bsn or more pre-reqs like public speaking or Statistics. I know I might just need to bite the bullet and take those classes, however I feel there has got to be a private or public school out there that will accept me for what I have. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thank you all!! :)

FYI: most, if not all, degree programs are mandated by the state as to what is required for graduation. The schools may not have much flexibility. Are you looking at RN - BSN programs? The ones in my area tend to make it easier (time-wise) for ADN's to get a BSN.

I'm not really sure what you're looking for. None of the accelerated BSN programs I've seen require a previous BSN....who would get two BSN's?

Any of the Accelerated BSN programs I've seen, do require a bachelors degree in something. That's how they make it accelerated, you only do your nursing courses since you have the rest of the requirements for a bachelors degree finished.

If you don't already have a bachelors degree, you're going to need to do non-nursing coursework (as was mentioned by the previous poster) in order to meet your state's definition of a bachelors degree.

Maybe if you could clarify what exactly you're looking for (ie do you have your RN, and are looking for a RN-BSN? or do you have a bachelors degree in something else and you're looking to get your RN?).

There are no 2nd Degree Accelerated BSN programs that do not require a previous BS/BA. There are some without a waiting list, b/c I am in one that did not have a waiting list, but none that don't require a previous Bachelor's degree (which is what I assume you mean when you say "BSN", which is actually the degree you'd be working towards if you were accepted into one of these programs).

Please do your own investigation as I'm not familiar with this school. I just browsed through the front page and do NOT see anything about having a previous degree. Good luck.

I think OP may mean "previous Bachelor's degree". The one linked in the post by mschaz above does not require a previous Bachelor's degree but you do need 60 credit hours of core curriculum credits this the foundational coursework including the typical nursing school prereqs - e.g. a&p, micro, math, chemistry, etc.

I am looking for just an accelerated bsn program. I currently have 65credits in general ed and most of the pre-reqs required, except for statistics and public speaking. I might need to look into getting my rn first and then doing a bridge program, if i dont end up finding a program like this. Thanks for all your help! :)

Thanks for all your insight. I do not have my RN or a Batchelors Degree. I have completed 65 credits of general ed as well as most pre-reqs required for Nursing beside Statistics and Public Speaking. So I am basically trying to find a program that has an: accelerated bsn program, that only requires about 60 credits of all general ed, and science pre-reqs like Anatomy, Chemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Lifespan Development. I know they exsist, because I came across one once....but I forgot the name :(. I think I am just going to keep researching state to state......hopefully I will find something :).

Well I did come across one once.....but I forgot the name :(. All they required was 60 credits of gen ed like: math, english, sociology, psychology, history etc. The only pre-reqs were Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Lifespan which I took all these. So now I am trying to see if there are any other schools that have these same requirements. It's going to be a tough search lol. Thank you for your help!

Thank you for this link! I did come across this school and I have everything except for the statistics :(. I might just need to bite the bullet and take this course....it took everything I had to get through algebra and I was hoping that it was the last math I would need. Thanks for your help! :)

I think most of them require stats and public speaking. We're using stats now in my research class. I'm in an LPN/BSN bridge.

If you are strongly thinking about that school, you need to make a decision soon. I think I saw that their Fall semester deadline is in January.
