Why do you believe you would be a good fit for a nurse?

I'm just curious about what ya'll think and why did you guys wanted to be a nurse xD I didn't mean to offend anyone soooo please don't take this in a bad way @.@

I'm currently apply to RN program and I hope to pass the ATI test so I would get in!! xD

P/s: I'm not a nurse yet so please don't ignore me :nailbiting::) (soon to be one)

I always liked helping to care for my parents when they get sick when I was little, as they got sick more often than I did. I have a caring, helpful personality. I'm on the quiet side, but it makes me a good listener, and I think a lot of my patients appreciate that I pay attention to their concerns, and tend not to become argumentative. I've always been interested in medicine/healthcare but I wanted more patient interaction than most doctors have, and I'm more interested in caring for the person than I am in making an official diagnosis.

I worked in another healthcare capacity, but it was a very narrow field. Nursing is a fairly wide field with many specialties. Also, now I don't have to wake up at 6:30 am or work 5 days a week. I can work 12 hour nights.

Short answer: I loved being a nurse's aide.

I got a job as a nurse's aide right out of high school. I needed a job, and my Mom - who was a nurse - talked to her close friend who was the DON at the nursing home. I thought, why not? I was going to be a music teacher, but I wanted a break from school.

I had always been comfortable helping people. In junior high, I was assigned to held a classmate with cerebral palsy - even helping her in the bathroom. It just seemed normal to me. I was surprised to find how satisfying it was to help the nursing home residents. I enjoyed my work; it was fun. It was me.

When it came time to choose between music and nursing, it was hard, because I loved both. But I felt that nursing would be the more secure job. (When school budgets get tight, the arts are the first to go ...)

I have never looked back.

I was good at science and found healthcare interesting.

Otherwise, I was really introverted and realized nursing would take me out of my comfort zone on a personal level. However, I liked the challenge and thought it would be good for me.

So to answer your question, I didn't think me and nursing was a match made in heaven, but it stretched me in areas I wanted to grow in.
