Anyone have any idea who "they" are?
You know, the ones who design rooms and who decide which units will have what type of patients?

I heard from a friend of mine when they were finished renovating her building the doorways were too narrow for the beds to go through and the bathrooms were so poorly designed that they had to go back in and redo most of the renovations. I don't think the people doing the work are familiar with the job.

When my old hospital built a new 35-bed ICU, they did consult some of the senior nurses for the ward layout. Unfortunately, they then ignored the nursing input and built a "rabbit warren" of single rooms and cubicles which was impossible to work as a team in. You had to stick your head out the door and yell "yoohoo, anyone around?" when you needed help or a break!
