Who has had surgery on their bunion? How long were you off work?

I'm getting my left foot fixed in December and was wondering how long other nurses were off work and if they returned to light duty first?

I have not but my mother has (she is a nurse too). Her first one she was off 12 weeks and the second was 16 weeks. Mind you she had bunions the size of a small sedan. She second one involved breaking bones and such.

She had no light duty because they only offer it if it is a workers comp claim

I really hope yours is a shorter recovery time, like I said these were the biggest bunions ever, hopefully you didn't wait as long as she did.

Good luck!

I had the surgery done on Sept 11 and went back to work last week...I wouldn't do it again.. You cannot walk on it at all and finally when you can its for short periods. I am still in physical therapy for my toe.. It's as stiff as a board and my foot is swollen still and I still limp. I need it on my other foot but I'm not going to do it...I wish I could be more positive but it was more of a big deal than what I thought..

we don't have light duty as that would mean someone else has to do the non-light duty tasks. My co-worker had bunion surgery recently and was off a week.
