Where do I begin!!??

Nurses General Nursing

I have decided to go back to school after many years! I have a BS , graduated 1987 and am a CTRS (certified recreation therapist). I am not in a hurry to start and my plan is to take whatever prerequisites I need to retake (my degree probably won't be transferable as it is older than 10 years?) BUT what I am hearing is that there is a 2 year or 3 year or ?? wait. Is that to start classes? can you get accepted and then just not start classes for 2 years? or do you have to wait 2 years to apply?? I thought I knew the answer to this question but keep finding different information. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

ps I am in Colorado Springs

It all depends on the school, the most expensive schools probably do not have waitlists but are very selective. The community college I go to have a 2-3 years wait list. To get on the waitlist, there are pre-reqs needed... intro to a&p, intro to chem, intro to algebra (or test out), 3.0 gpa with atleast 12 credit hours. While on the waitlist, we are able to take all the non-nursing courses required for the associate nursing degree. Every school have their own requirments. Since you already have a BS, have you thought about checking the accelerated BSN programs? There are some available online. I don't know too much about them since I never went to college until now. Good luck!!!

apply for lpn first. after finishing it apply for online lpn to rn bridge program like excelsior college.so you can become rn faster.

Every case is unique.i finished my bachelor degree in pharmaceutical science.but now i am considering nursing .because of long waiting list in absn as well as adn programs . i am planing to get my lpn first which will be like 11 months and two months for nclex preparation.so, totally one year one month.then i will enroll in excelsior online lpn to rn bridge program.which takes around one year to complete.may be one and half month for nclex rn preparation. so you can become rn in little over two years.if you want to get into traditional adn or absn you have to wait for at least one and half year in my area.and pre req may take one year to complete and the actual course may take two years to complete (ADN). so total four and half years.but i can become rn two years faster.:yeah:
