I figure I need to start somewhere.

Where does one go to take these classes? I know there are 6 week programs out there.

I'm in Houston, TX..

Anyone?

Thanks!

You might call your local vocational education school. Check the yellow pages under "schools".

Check with community colleges, nursing homes and American Red Cross. Nursing homes if you are able to will pay you for the training and PERHAPS want commitment from you for 6 mos-1 year to in return. You can also go to your local State Board of Nursing website and they should have list of approved facilities for CNA training. I am doing the ARC one and paying for it myself. Class is taught at nites and on weekends and allows me for now to stay a bit longer at my well paying though very unchallenging job.

I was thinking of doing the same thing! You know, getting some experience and all.

One of my friends in class is a CNA and she told me that it takes 3-4 months and I believe any community college would offer classes or trading school... like houston community college, alvin comm. college... (i'm from houston too)

What school are you or plan to go to?
