Explain yourself.
A lot of nurses don't know their facility's RN vacancy rate. They blindly believe what their facility tells them.
That is all I want to know.
Do you really know what your RN shortage is in your facility? I mean hard numbers not percentages. I believe they lump all nursing into one number (RNs, LPNs, NPs, CNA, Nurse Management, etc.). You may be burning yourself out for nothing if they (your facility) don't think more RNs are needed. Therefore, you will have to continue to work with less staff. They may have no intention to adjust the number upwards for patient safety or staff safety.
We gripe and complain that we are staffed so poorly, but do we know for sure.
There may be a shortage of "RNs" and there may not be. It all depends on how your facility calculates "nursing vacancies."

With everyone saying there is a nursing shortage, do we know how our own facility is staffed with RNs?
