What Field of Nursing do you Desire the Most?

As a nurses aide, I worked in LTC. I later became an EMT, and then eventually became an LPN, had already finished one college course, and had interviewed for the RN program. Then I became disabled.

I still love nursing, and is why I have been a member since 2002.

During my nursing education experience, had I been able to after my first year in Med-Surg, I would liked to have tried one of these following three.

L & D because I love kids, and the birth of a baby excites me. I have witnessed 9 births, each one as exciting as the one before it.

ER because I was an EMT for 18 years and loved the excitement of it.

OR because I am fascinated with the anatomy of the human body and would have loved to help with the surgeries.

I fell into the OR in my senior practicum, and I'm still here. I don't really desire any other nursing field, except for maybe education when bedside gets to be too much physically and ultimately "retired" when I get to that point. Probably won't retire early, may not retire when I'm eligible for Medicare, but it'll happen some day.
