Hello fellow weekenders and night-shifters! A question:

When you take vacation day, do you get paid your base rate or your "special program" rate? My facility is talking about paying is our base rate for vacation days, which I'm not really happy about.

As a night shifter, I only get compensated at base rate. For friends who've been in special programs like weekend cadre, they only get base rate too.

I work weekend nights, and when we take a vacation, we get paid as if it were a regular weekend night...however, the catch is that we get 20 hours of vacation time taken from our bank for every 12 hours we take off. So, it's good and not-so-good.

Thank you for the replies! And whoops for any and all typos, I'm sending this on my blackberry pearl. ;)

Yeah, we get our time deducted from our vacation hours bank too.

I work weekend-when I take a day off I get paid what I would've gotten paid anyway. But when I was fulltime I only got paid my base rate if I took PTO no matter if I took it on a day that was a weekend day or night shift. I think this is probably very facility specific.
