Transition from student to grad nurse - quotes needed

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am in my final semester of nursing school (YEAH!) and I have a group project on the transition from a student nurse to a grad nurse. I am looking for stories, quotes, any info you may willing to share. We are going to take the info and compile a 10-15 minute speech to be presented to the class. Please tell me if you would like to remain anonymous or use your name. Thank you for your time and information.

never forget that healthcare is a business, often run by corporations. therefore, when you get your first job, you are entering into corporate life. the first rule to corporate life is: get it in writing. that's not a joke. do that for everything, from the quote for your salary/wage from hr to your performance review. keep copies of everything because when you least want something to get lost, it will get lost. do not trust your manager, or team leader, or hr to keep track of your stuff, because they don't. you must take responsibility for your career. there is no more frustrating feeling than seeing your first paycheck as a major disappointment because the quote you thought you got by hr was not approved by your unit's budget director. ask questions, and get it in writing with someone's signature.
