I just recently became a member of this forum. I have been reading it for years, but finally decided to join. I am impressed with all of the discussions that have been going on here. I enjoy all the responses. I am proud that all of you are my peers. I have been working as a nurse in med/surg for going on 8 years now. I am looking into getting my BSN and eventually my MSN. It will be a lot of work and I'm a little scared about taking the risk. My goal is to wait until the economy is better and then look into something like the University of Phonenix on line to better my education. That's really all I have to say right now. I just wanted everyone to know I have joined this forum and I really enjoy reading what my peers have to say! John, RN:) :)

Hey John! Nice to meet you.

Let me tell you that when you do go to school for your MSN, there is a wealth of knowledge here that can only be described as invaluable.

Some examples are:

* I once needed an article from a Canadian nursing journal - and it had to be a specific article and I needed it yesterday, as I was dumb and procrastinated. I posted a thread asking for help, to see if anyone had a subscription to the journal, and within 5 minutes, someone here posted a link to a .pdf file of the whole text.

*For a major project, I was having a hard time finding info regarding a certain nursing theorist. A poster here took it upon herself to PM me, stating a source that she used that had the information I was looking for. I couldn't get a hold of the book soon enough, so what did she do? Faxed me the entire chapter. It was a lifesaver.

*I've had numerous discussion regarding papers, thesis proposals, resumes, you name it.

Basically, AllNurses Rocks! I can't say enough about the people of this board. Welcome again!

Welcome John.

You won't find a BB with a bigger heart anywhere. These people are extraordinary. I stumbled upon it myself a year ago and it awoke in me a desire to get back into healthcare after working in a cushy and boring chemist position for the past 18 years.
