Thinking about a career in Acute Dialysis!

I may have the opportunity to join a company in South Florida that does dialysis treatments. Does anyone have any feed back, positive or negative, about this type of nursing?

Dialysis brings back a memory for me. It was the only thing I saw in nursing school that made me pass out. I am by no means very squeamish or a 'passer outer' but watching the blood go in and out and looking at one patient's dressing saturated with blood made me go down! Luckily there was a nurse right there who saw it happening and she sat me in a chair. :chuckle I never had a problem with blood before or since, but I am still afraid to go onto a dialysis unit! I have a PD patient right now and I run her dialysis, but since it's not hemo, I'm ok with it! :chuckle

Thank you for the reply. I have been and OR nurse and have given many a blood transfusion, so I don't think or at least I hope that will be a problem for me. Really I don't remember anything in nursing school making me squeamish. The only thing that I think that has ever made me squeamish is watching a movie that has blood and gore in it. Thank god that it's only a movie! Again, thank you for your reply. :p
