A 4/11/96 press release and a 5/20/97 letter to the U.S. Senate express the opposition of the American Nurses Association to the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.

In the 5/20/97 letter from Geri Marullo, RN, Executive Director of the ANA to Sen. Barbara Boxer, Ms. Marullo claims "The American Nurses Association is the only full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.2 million Registered Nurses through its 53 constituent associations."

Does the ANA speak for you?

How do you feel about the ANA claiming to represent you if you are not a member?

I am not a member of ANA and will not join if their position is in favor of partial-birth abortions.

(Senate - October 20, 1999)

I'm really suprised there have not been more replies to these questions. Abortion is such a highly controversial topic, I would think more of you would state your opinions about it.

Personally, I am highly offended. I have always been Pro-life, and feel that this is, without a doubt, the only "choice" that needs to be made.

I am proud to say that I am not a member of the ANA, and that they do not speak for me.

OK, I have to say I am a "moderate" Pro-Life person, who is NOT a member of ANA, one reason of which is their extreemely liberal pro-choice stance. By "moderate" I mean I can understand, without necessarily condoning, why a woman would have a TAB for rape, a child that will die at/near birth like an anacephalic, or to save a mother's life.

I went to a conference recently discussing pain management in NICUs...

one point the MD lecturer made slapped me in the face: pain receptors are indeed

developed in the fetus at or before 20 weeks gestation....

so, not only are abortions killing the unborn....but torturing as well.... frown.gif
