Student Nurse Position - Question about follow up

I applied for a Student Nurse per diem position. They called and I interviewed the end of December. I thought the interview went well and I was extremely excited because it was in the ICU which is were I would like to work someday. I had not heard anything so I followed up 2 weeks ago just asking if I was still being considered and received a response that I was and once they finished the interviews they had scheduled they would contact me with the next steps. I have not heard back since. Am I being too impatient, can it take awhile to receive a response. Whether I am offered the position or not I am hoping to get something telling me they filled the position with a more qualified individual etc.

I guess my real question is am I being impatient? I don't want to be a stalker and send another email to HR although I am really, really interested. Not that it matters but I am second career student so I am older and I "want" to do this, I don't need the job or the money I just really wanted the experience. Should I just wait it out?

No I do not think that you are being impatient.....I think you should wait until at least.....say maybe the end of the week to call to find out if the position is still available. In that way you will know. I hope you get the job. Good luck!

Specializes in pediatrics, public health.

I think it would be fine to call again, now that it has been 2 weeks. This time, in addition to asking if you're still a candidate, see if you can find out what their time frame is.

Did you send your thank you card yet? You can inquire through that subtly as well.
