sleep breaks?

can you imagine? nurses on nights getting a 2 1/2 hour sleep break?

I'd be happy to actually take the 30 minute lunch break that my employer docks my pay for. As it is I work 12.5 hours for 12 hours of pay.

Sorry to be rude about it, but if you are not getting a 1/2 hr luch break, then you should get paid for it...if you are not, than you should talk to someone about it...

Our director has always said she doesn't care what we do on our lunch breaks, as long as we are in house, readily available by phone, and someone is covering. Sone nurses have occasionally slept on their breaks, but no one has made a habit of it. Honestly, I think we would need some sort of official ok before many of us would feel comfortable taking a routine sleep break.

It's not something that I do, or that I'm comfortable doing at this point, but I'm glad this issue is so prominent in the media lately, and perhaps it will lead to a change where I work.
