Hi everyone,

Well, I'm currently working as a research assistant for a national study. I was asked if I could perform blood draws. I just received my RN license, but I was hired as a research assistant, not an RN. I would love to use my nursing skills, but I want to make sure it's ok for me to do so. Do I have to be officially hired as an RN to do the blood draws?

By the way, I get paid more as a research assistant than an RN. :( Booooo!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was hired as an RN and ended up heading up a research study as WELL as doing blood draws and starting IVs. At least your getting extra pay for the real job, I highly doubt you have to get hired as an RN to work as an RN. As long as you carry you can practice anywhere I believe.
