Hey everyone! I plan on applying to Quinnipiac this August (2016) for the 2017 start. I was wondering if there was anyone else interested in the program, how your grades are, or if there's anyone in the program now or in the past that has any information they are willing to share. Thanks!!

Hi! I plan on applying to Quinnipiac, too--working on my application now. The essay is the only thing causing me grief :) I haven't finished my prereqs yet, but of the ones I've finished, grades are: Anatomy: A; Statistics: B+; Physiology: A; am taking Microbiology right now--hopefully A! I've also taken Nutrition and Lifespan for other programs (and soon to be chemistry, genetics, and biology, too).

What's your experience like? That's the only thing worrying me. After college (graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and French), I took about a year off to pursue competitive cycling, and then began nannying for a five month old baby (who is now 19 months old--time flies!). I soon discovered a love for everything birth-related, and became a doula, so right now I'm nannying and doula-ing (and volunteering in a midwifery office). My ultimate goal is to be a CNM, so I'll either do that with a combined absn+masters program, or do the absn, work for a year or two, and then apply to CNM programs. That's essentially my story. So, aside from volunteer work, I don't have much "traditional" work experience, like in an office or hospital setting. Hopefully the slightly diverse experience won't be a deterring factor for the admissions committee! We'll see!

I know that Quinnipiac is highly rated and gets wonderful reviews from its students, so, even though I'm all the way across the country and can't visit, I'm pretty sure it's a great place!

I have also applied. Just sent in my updated transcripts to include my Fall 2016 grades. Finishing up my senior year, currently a 3.73 GPA. Grades are:

Anatomy I: A

Anatomy II: A-

Stats: A

Dev. Psych: A

Taking Micro and Chem next semester. Graduating with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health (started as psychology major). I did a rotation as a student volunteer at my local hospital but don't have all that much other experience in the health care field. Been a competitive athlete for so many years that there hasn't been much time for anything else given the practice and travel schedule and academics.

Hoping for the best.

Well, you said ask, so here you go....I've got a million questions, so I'll just list them. Any answers you are willing to share or info you can pass along is greatly apprecaited.

Regarding the application process....

1. When did you get your acceptance notification? By email or regular mail?

2. Did you go directly from your first BS to this program or were you out of school for a bit?

3. What were your grades for the prereqs/GPA? Experience?

Regarding the program....

1. Did you begin for the 2016 Fall cohort?

2. What are your overall impressions of the program so far?

3. Are you from the area? If not, what are you doing for housing?

4. How many are in your class?

5. Assume you are not working or participating in any other major activities but how many hours per day would say you give toward studying?

6. Are most of the students in your class, recent first BS grads or others returning after years out of school?

I am sure that I will have more as time goes on but thanks so much for your offer of information and support to the group of us that are just beginning.

I got my acceptance letter around March 21st, regular mail.

I graduated with my Bachelor's last May, and started the program in the fall. I am 29 and started this whole college when I was a bit older. :)

My grades for pre-reqs were all straight A's -- i had just gotten my CNA certificate the fall of 2016, and i had some hospital (nutrition office) experience.

I am in the program now, so yes, I started fall 2016. I like the program, it's intense, lots of studying, esp when the exams start rolling around, but it is doable. I am from the area, married with a house, so I did not have to deal with finding a place to live. Many people from our class that moved here to do the program looked for apartments when they came up for the orientation in June. The school also has apartments down the street that they offer - they are pricey but they do exist. Some of the people from my class ended up meeting at the orientation and then became roommates for the year. They will have someone talking about housing during the orientation, and discuss the options. 47 students in my class. They had a bigger class last year!

I am working three different per diem jobs, and it depends on the quiz/exam/assignment schedule. I study all day Sundays usually, but I will do some sort of school work for the most part every day, it's hard to tell how much, I don't have a set amount of time I spend weekly. Sundays are definitely an all day studying day for me with a friend; we meet at school to go through stuff for the week. But, when the midterms/finals roll around, I don't work the week before, and we literally study all day every day, for 4-5 days straight. So, staying on top of things, and studying/reading weekly is the key.

The class is mixed, people from all over the country, different experiences, some younger, some older, Most of people are fresh grads with their BS, but there are teachers, paramedics, psych techs, EMTs, etc.

Thanks so much for all the info. The work load sounds about what I was expecting so I am prepared to give up life for the next year if I get into the program. Good to know that the orientation gets things rolling for finding housing, etc.

Since I don't have much experience, I'm hoping that my strong GPA while being a competitive student athlete will be enough to get me a look.

Hey NikNikV!This is brittanyec, I forgot my password to that account, this is my new one. I can definitely agree about the sports, I played soccer in college. I have a BA in psychology. Very stressed that the results are coming soon. I hope I hear good news!

Right? Athletics definitely left little time for getting much experience. Still your grades are excellent. Are you just graduating now (Spring) or have you been out for a bit? Are you from the area?

I know, it's so stressful. Have you checked your status? Mine still says "In Review." Wonder how long it stays there. :unsure:

NikNikV - Thank you so much, hopefully they're good enough! I graduated August 2016. I originally from Cape Cod, but I live in CT now, about an hour away from Quinnipiac. How about you? And I just look and it's in review.. I guess that's a good sign that they received everything! I've been afraid that I was gonna miss something on the application lol
