I'm currently in school to become an RN and we're learning about pressure sores, prevention, staging, care of them, etcetera. I took an interest in what on earth caused them and started looking at products to prevent pressure sores on the OR table and found a bunch of gel products to reduce pressure.
This leads to my question: those gel products claim to be reusable...how does one sanitize a gel product? They can't be autoclaved...at least I don't think they can stand the temperature and remain structurally intact. Are they just wiped down with sani-wipes or other disinfectants and called "clean"?
Any information you can give is very much appreciated.

- Feb 22, '12 by AltraIf you're looking at the product(s)' website - the specs should give details on cleaning, if they are designed to be cleaned.

But I wasn't sure if what the manufacturers stated for their product was actually put into practice. If you're looking at the product(s)' website - the specs should give details on cleaning, if they are designed to be cleaned.
