This is probably a stupid question, but I need to know. What is the longest length white lab coat bedside nurses should wear so as not to be confused with CNPs or MDs? I know other colors are an option, but I'd like to know about white lab coats specifically. Thanks in advance for your help!

It shouldn't go past your hips.

I don't think the length will matter so much, as it will (should!) be clear from your ID badge that you are a RN.

You could also have it embroidered to say as such.

I agree with Mi Vida Loca, I would never wear a coat that goes past about the top of the thigh.

I don't believe I would ever want to wear one longer than that! :)

(Now, hopefully you aren't like my coworker, who is 4 foot 8!)

A few of my hospitals there was a policy on it. Caused to much confusion when nurses or lab techs and what have you were running around with white coats to their knees. NP's could wear the longer ones as they were clinicians.
