preterm labor and returning to work

Hi there,

Last week at 29 weeks pregnant, I began to have contractions and was taken to the hospital and given a shot of terbutaline to slow them down, I also had a fetal fibronectin test which unfortunately came back positive. My MD placed me on bedrest for a week and half. After having a cervical ultrasound which came back normal, and no further contractions for almost a week, I'm wondering if I'm going to get the green light to return to work. I'm an RN currently working at a health care center, which is fast paced, short staffed, and usually leaves me on my feet with minimal time for breaks for 7.5 hours. If my MD placed me on light duty, would my employer have to honor it?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We cannot offer medical advice as per the Terms of Service. Your employer is under no obligation to honor light duty. For me personally I would not risk early labor...I would want an all clear or go off on maternity leave.
