Politician Supports Rn

Nurses General Nursing

From July-August Revolution Mag -

(paraphrased) ---" Kentucky State Rep. Jim Wayne (D) turned down campaign contribution offered by the Kentucky Hospital Association, through Norton Audubon Hospital. Reason why: He has decided to back Jane Gentry, RN , union activist, who was fired on trumped up charges and then they reported her to the Kentucky Board of Nursing in an effort to suspend her license. Gentry, RN worked at the hospital for 18 years and was accused (THIS WILL GET TO YOU) of flushing a patient's IV line with a normal saline solution without a doctors permission and failing to chart the action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gentry and the Nurses Prof. Org.(NPO) believe she was targeted because of her union organizing in the hospital, DUH!!

The NPO applauds Rep. Wayne's refusing of contribution dollars from the hospital assoc., one of the biggest contributors in Kentucky. They suggest that grateful nurses send their thanks to Rep. Wayne ([email protected]) for saying "NO" to big money in order to help a staff nurse.---"

Very refreshing that someone sat up and took notice. This nurse is just a peon in the big picture. I don't care WHY this politician did what he did, but I do think he deserves follow up recognition as incentive to continue this trend and perhaps influence others to take act accordingly - WE ARE HERE and WE AREN'T GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE! Please drop him a line. Thanks.

Hell, I'd be willing to send him money. Is there a physical address?
