How would you write a nursing diagnosis statement specific to drug therapy prescribed for patients with sleep disorder? I have this question in the critical thinking and I am not quiet sure I have it down yet. This is just one of a few!!!
Thanks,

As you probably noticed by the number of responses this is a popular subject.
There are several things to take in to consideration. Is the pt an adult of child? Is it situational or? You say disorder but that would be a medical Dx if I am correct.
Is this an environmental or true physical disorder?
In a nursing dx you might try several actions as well as "administer rx as ordered per MD". You will need a tool to measure the effectiveness of your actions.
I take it you have a nursing diagnosis book? My book states that Sleep Pattern disturbance should be differentiated from sleep disorders which are chronic conditions usually not tx be a nurse generalist.

Without seeming like a real prick..........................it seems to me that if your client can't sleep (for whatever reason) and they are prescribed drugs to help them achieve this then a so called nursing diagnosis is a waste of time and effort!
ie; Nursing diagnosis:- Dysleepia related to busy ward and close proximity to farting, snoring, coughing, dying patients necessitating prescribed benzodiazepenes, hypnotics or
anything new that will help.
Nursing Plan:- administration of said medicatiojn until fit to return home.
Outcome:- Tranquil drug free sleep in the comfort of one's own bed.
I am not taking the piss out of you!, but merely highlighting the uslelesness of so called nursing diagnoses in general. In short, why do we need a medical and a nursing diagnosis to justify what we do?!
Pax.

im sure this girl is in school and thats her assignment for class...
sorry i dont have any answers for you...that question is just too vague
Actually it is not an assignment! I do not have to do the critical thinking or workbook. I just didn't quite understand it and need to see an example!! It just explains in the book " how to do it".
